BOSTON Harbor is at MARSEC Level 1
 
Coast Guard will be conducting a live Helicopter Search and Rescue Demonstration in the vicinity of the Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina support the 68th, anniversary of the sinking of the SS Andria Doria. The exercise will be conducted on July 25th, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A 300 yard Safety Zone will be in effect in a radius of position approximate 42-21’41.3”N 071-01’08.3”W no vessels may enter the Safety Zone without permission from the COTP Sector Boston, Ma. On scene vessels will be monitoring VHF-FM Ch 13/16. Mariners are advised to use caution when transiting the area. 
 
 
Boston Pilots advise:
Ships that employ an EPL/SHaPoLi or engine acceleration-limiting program as a part of their EEXI compliance structure must inform pilots of the engine response characteristics prior to entry into U.S. territorial waters to comply with 33 CFR § 164.11(k).
If the pilot card and wheel house poster are NOT UPDATED to reflect maneuverability with the device ENGAGED – device MUST BE OVERRIDDEN prior to entering U.S. territorial waters (3NM). If override is not feasible, the COTP, in consultation with the pilots, may require additional safety measures.
 
BOSTON CBP has noted the following:
 
Crew changes are being permitted.  Offsigner flights need to be vetted by CBP in advance.
 
Shore leave is permitted.

Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
A stalled frontal boundary will remain across the south coastal
waters today, along with weak areas of low pressure traversing the
front. A cold front will move into southern New Eng late Thu and
sweep across the coastal waters Thu night. High pres builds over the
Gt Lakes Fri then into New Eng this weekend.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank
National Marine Sanctuary:
 
.TODAY...SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft
at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at 9 seconds. A chance of showers.
