Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
A wave of low pres tracks across the region today and tonight. A
stronger low pres system will bring the potential for NE gales Thu
and rough seas as it tracks near or northwest of the Benchmark. High
pres should build over the waters for Fri and move east of the
region by Sat.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank
National Marine Sanctuary:
 
TODAY...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt this afternoon.
Seas 3 to 4 ft. Patchy drizzle this morning, then a chance of
rain this afternoon with vsby 1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...S winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming SW after midnight. Gusts
up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Rain likely, mainly in the evening.
Vsby 1 NM or less.
.WED...SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S in the afternoon. Seas
2 to 4 ft. A chance of rain in the afternoon with vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.WED NIGHT...SE winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming NE 15 to 20 kt with
gusts up to 30 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft, building to
4 to 6 ft after midnight. Patchy fog. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.THU...NE winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft, building to 8 to 10 ft in the afternoon. Patchy fog. Rain.

.THU NIGHT...NE winds 30 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas
10 to 12 ft. A chance of rain. Vsby 1 to 3 NM in the evening.
.FRI...NE winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas 8 to
11 ft.
.FRI NIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
5 to 8 ft.
.SAT...E winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 4 to
6 ft.
.SAT NIGHT...SE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
