Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Weak high pres builds across the waters today, then low pressure
approaches the south coast of New England Thurs, yielding periods of
rain and gusty east winds. This low likely develops into a strong
cyclone as it tracks over NY state Friday, then moves north across
northern New England while slowly weakening into Sat.

FRIDAY MORNING...
 
.TODAY...N winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 3 ft
at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at 11 seconds.
.TONIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt after
midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: NE 4 ft at 7 seconds and E
1 foot at 11 seconds.
.THU...E winds 15 to 20 kt, increasing to 20 to 25 kt in the
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to 5 ft, building to 6 to
7 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at 7 seconds and E
1 foot at 11 seconds, becoming E 7 ft at 7 seconds and E 1 foot
at 10 seconds. A chance of rain in the morning, then rain in the
afternoon with vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.THU NIGHT...E winds 20 to 25 kt, becoming S after midnight.
Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 6 to 8 ft. Wave Detail: E 8 ft at
7 seconds and S 2 ft at 5 seconds. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 NM in the
evening.
.FRI...S winds 10 to 15 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt in the morning.
Seas 5 to 7 ft, subsiding to 4 to 5 ft in the afternoon. Wave
Detail: E 6 ft at 7 seconds and S 2 ft at 5 seconds, becoming SE
4 ft at 7 seconds and S 2 ft at 4 seconds. A chance of rain in
the morning, then rain in the afternoon.
.FRI NIGHT...SE winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming NE with gusts up to
20 kt after midnight. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: S 3 ft at
5 seconds and E 1 foot at 11 seconds. Rain.
.SAT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. Rain likely.
.SAT NIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
5 to 7 ft. A chance of rain.
.SUN AND SUN NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt.
Seas 4 to 6 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
