Low pressure passes over nrn New England Wed, pushing a strong cold
front across the waters Wed night. Strong S winds to storm force
develop Wed afternoon and evening. High pres then builds over the
waters late this week into this weekend.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:

LATE TONIGHT...
 
.TODAY...S winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt, increasing
to 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 50 kt this afternoon. Seas 4 to
6 ft, building to 7 to 10 ft this afternoon. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft
at 7 seconds and SE 1 foot at 11 seconds, becoming S 8 ft at
6 seconds and E 2 ft at 6 seconds. Patchy fog. Rain likely,
mainly this morning. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...S winds 30 to 35 kt with gusts up to 55 kt, becoming
SW 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt after midnight. Seas 10 to
14 ft, subsiding to 9 to 12 ft after midnight. Wave Detail: S
11 ft at 6 seconds and SE 8 ft at 10 seconds, becoming SE 10 ft
at 10 seconds and S 7 ft at 6 seconds. Rain. Patchy fog in the
evening. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.THU...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 6 to
9 ft. Wave Detail: SE 7 ft at 10 seconds and S 6 ft at 6 seconds.
.THU NIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt
after midnight. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft. Wave Detail:
SW 5 ft at 6 seconds and SE 4 ft at 10 seconds.
.FRI AND FRI NIGHT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Wave
Detail: W 4 ft at 6 seconds and SE 3 ft at 9 seconds.
.SAT THROUGH SUN...SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave
Detail: SE 3 ft at 11 seconds and NW 2 ft at 3 seconds.
.SUN NIGHT...S winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
3 to 4 ft. A chance of rain.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height..
