Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Lingering ocean effect snow across the eastern waters through Monday
morning, then turning dry as Arctic high pressure settles over the
northeast. A wind shift from the north to southwest occurs late this
evening as the high shifts off shore and a weak clipper system moves
in from the west. Periods of light rain and snow showers overnight
into early Tuesday are possible. High pressure returns mid week
through the end of this coming week, though, periods ocean effect
rain and snow showers could resurface Wednesday and Thursday
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
.THIS AFTERNOON...NW winds around 5 kt, becoming SW. Seas 2 to
3 ft. Wave Detail: NW 2 ft at 4 seconds and E 2 ft at 10 seconds.
Scattered flurries.
.TONIGHT...SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
3 ft. Wave Detail: SW 3 ft at 3 seconds and NE 2 ft at 5 seconds.
A chance of snow after midnight.
.TUE...SW winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming NW in the afternoon. Gusts
up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: SW 3 ft at 4 seconds
and E 2 ft at 10 seconds. A chance of rain and snow in the
morning. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.TUE NIGHT...N winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft, building to
4 to 5 ft after midnight. Wave Detail: N 3 ft at 4 seconds and E
1 foot at 9 seconds, becoming N 4 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at
9 seconds.
.WED...N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 5 to
6 ft. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at 7 seconds and E 5 ft at 10 seconds.
A chance of snow showers. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.WED NIGHT...N winds around 10 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt in the
evening. Seas 4 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at 8 seconds. A
chance of showers in the evening.
.THU THROUGH FRI NIGHT...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
