Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Gale force northwest winds continue through Wednesday evening. Gale
force gusts may continue into Thursday as well which may lead to an
extension of the current Gale Warning. Light freezing spray will be
possible during this time frame as well. A strong low pressure
crosses the waters over the weekend.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:

.TODAY...W winds around 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: NW 8 ft at 6 seconds and SE 1 foot at
12 seconds. Light freezing spray.
.TONIGHT...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: NW 8 ft at 6 seconds and SE 1 foot at
11 seconds. Light freezing spray.
.THU...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft. Wave Detail: NW 7 ft at 6 seconds. Light freezing spray.
.THU NIGHT...NW winds 25 to 30 kt. Gusts up to 40 kt, decreasing
to 30 kt after midnight. Seas 5 to 8 ft. Wave Detail: N 7 ft at
7 seconds.
.FRI...NW winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt, diminishing
to around 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas
5 to 7 ft, subsiding to 3 to 5 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail:
N 6 ft at 7 seconds, becoming NW 4 ft at 6 seconds.

diminishing to 5 to 10 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave
Detail: N 3 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at 16 seconds.
.SAT...W winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Snow likely. Vsby
1 to 3 NM.
.SAT NIGHT...N winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft. A chance of snow and rain. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.SUN...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft.
.SUN NIGHT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
2 to 4 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
