Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Gale force northwest winds continue into Thu evening with areas of
light freezing spray. High pressure building in from the west will
result in diminishing winds Fri. Low pressure will pass well south
of the waters Sat followed by northwest small craft wind gusts Sat
night into Sun. A mid level ridge axis approaches the waters Mon and
allows winds and seas to diminish.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
 
.TODAY...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: NW 7 ft at 6 seconds. Light freezing spray. A
chance of snow showers this morning. A slight chance of snow
showers this afternoon.
.TONIGHT...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: N 8 ft at 7 seconds.
.FRI...NW winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt in the
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to 7 ft, subsiding to 3 to
5 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: N 6 ft at 7 seconds, becoming
N 4 ft at 6 seconds.
.FRI NIGHT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt,
diminishing to 5 to 10 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave
Detail: N 3 ft at 6 seconds and E 1 foot at 15 seconds.
.SAT...NW winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft
at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at 15 seconds. Snow likely. Vsby 1 to
3 NM.
.SAT NIGHT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: N 4 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at
14 seconds. A chance of snow and rain in the evening with vsby
1 to 3 NM.
.SUN AND SUN NIGHT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt,
diminishing to 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft.
.MON AND MON NIGHT...W winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
