Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Low pressure will continue to intensify tonight as it lifts north
through the Canadian Maritimes. This will result in an arctic
airmass moving across the waters through Wednesday with gusty WNW
winds. Areas of freezing spray are also expected over some of our
waters, some of which could be moderate intensity late tonight into
Wednesday morning.
A high pressure system will then moves across the waters Wednesday
night. This will be followed by a low pressure system that will
likely pass well southeast of the benchmark late Thursday night
through early Friday morning.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
.TODAY...W winds 15 to 20 kt, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt this
afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: W 3 ft at 4 seconds and
SE 2 ft at 10 seconds. Light freezing spray.
.TONIGHT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: W 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 9 seconds.
Light freezing spray after midnight.
.WED...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: NW 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 8 seconds.
Light freezing spray in the morning.
.WED NIGHT...W winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SW 10 to 15 kt with
gusts up to 20 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: W
2 ft at 4 seconds and E 2 ft at 6 seconds.
.THU...SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: SW 3 ft at 4 seconds and NE 2 ft at 7 seconds.
.THU NIGHT...W winds around 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: SW 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at
11 seconds.
.FRI THROUGH SAT...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt.
Seas 2 to 4 ft.
.SAT NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
