Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
A tightening pres gradient today may bring SW gales through Tues. A
strong cold front will cross the waters Tues. A quick moving low
pres tracking from the Gt Lakes into New England on Wed will be
followed by gusty NW winds which will bring a brief shot of arctic
air and freezing spray Wed night and Thu. Low pres will track to the
north Fri with gusty SW winds..

TUESDAY AFTERNOON...
 
.TODAY...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt, becoming SW
20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt this afternoon. Seas 2 to
4 ft, building to 4 to 6 ft this afternoon. Wave Detail: W 3 ft
at 4 seconds and SE 1 foot at 9 seconds, becoming SW 5 ft at
5 seconds and SE 1 foot at 9 seconds.
.TONIGHT...SW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: SW 7 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
9 seconds.
.TUE...W winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft. Wave Detail: W 7 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
9 seconds.
.TUE NIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt,
diminishing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt after midnight.
Seas 4 to 6 ft, subsiding to 2 to 4 ft after midnight. Wave
Detail: W 6 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at 10 seconds, becoming
W 4 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at 10 seconds. Light freezing
spray in the evening. A chance of snow after midnight.
.WED...S winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming W in the afternoon. Gusts up
to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: S 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE
1 foot at 9 seconds. Snow likely. A chance of rain in the
afternoon. Vsby 1 NM or less, increasing to 1 to 3 NM in the
afternoon.
.WED NIGHT...NW winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: NW 6 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
10 seconds. A chance of snow in the evening. Light freezing spray
after midnight.
.THU...NW winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft. Light freezing spray.
.THU NIGHT...W winds around 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft. Light freezing spray.
.FRI...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. A chance of rain.
.FRI NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
2 to 4 ft. A chance of rain and snow.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
