Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Low pres intensifies into a gale centered over the Maritimes today,
yielding NW gales and possible freezing spray across the eastern MA
waters into tonight. High pres moves across the waters Sat. This
will be followed by a fast-moving low pres that should pass near the
40N/70W benchmark late Sat night into Sun morning. A ridge of high
pres then follows Sun night into Mon, but a couple of low pres
systems may track S of the waters in the Tue through Thu time frame..
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST THIS EVENING...
 
.TODAY...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft. Wave Detail: W 6 ft at 5 seconds and SE 4 ft at 9 seconds.
.TONIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt after
midnight. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: NW 6 ft
at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at 9 seconds.
.SAT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt, becoming W
5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: NW 4 ft
at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at 10 seconds.
.SAT NIGHT...S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SE 10 to 15 kt with
gusts up to 20 kt after midnight. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail:
SE 2 ft at 3 seconds and W 2 ft at 4 seconds. A chance of snow in
the evening, then snow with a chance of rain after midnight. Vsby
1 NM or less.
.SUN...NE winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming N in the afternoon. Seas
2 to 4 ft, building to 4 to 6 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: E
3 ft at 5 seconds and NW 1 foot at 3 seconds, becoming N 4 ft at
4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 8 seconds. Snow. A chance of rain in the
morning. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.SUN NIGHT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: N 4 ft at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at
7 seconds. A chance of snow in the evening with vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.MON AND MON NIGHT...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt.
Seas 3 to 5 ft.
.TUE...W winds around 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft.
.TUE NIGHT...S winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
2 to 3 ft. Snow likely. Vsby 1 NM or less.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
