Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
A secondary low pres intensifies as it lifts northeastward into the
Canadian Maritimes tonight and Fri. This will result in in a
prolonged period of WNW gale force wind gusts and rough seas tonight
through Sat. A ridge of high pres will then build to our south for
the first part of next week.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:

.TODAY...W winds 30 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas 8 to
11 ft. Wave Detail: W 10 ft at 6 seconds and SE 6 ft at
11 seconds.
.TONIGHT...W winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: W 8 ft at 6 seconds and SE 4 ft at 11 seconds.
.SAT...W winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft. Wave Detail: W 7 ft at 6 seconds and SE 2 ft at 12 seconds.
.SAT NIGHT...W winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt,
diminishing to 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt after midnight.
Seas 5 to 8 ft. Wave Detail: W 8 ft at 6 seconds and E 2 ft at
12 seconds.
.SUN...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to
6 ft, subsiding to 2 to 4 ft in the afternoon. Wave Detail: W
6 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at 11 seconds, becoming W 4 ft at
5 seconds and SE 1 foot at 11 seconds.
.SUN NIGHT...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: W 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 1 foot at
11 seconds.
.MON THROUGH TUE...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt.
Seas 2 to 4 ft.
.TUE NIGHT...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height..
