The MSU Port Arthur held a Port Coordination Team (PCT) conference call this morning at 1000 hours to update all concerned about the situation with the dense fog and its effects on vessel/ship traffic in Sabine-Neches Waterway.
National Weather Service:
· Today is looking a lot like yesterday, with dense fog across the area and offshore
· Slow improvement is expected
· Inshore clearing first
· Sea fog will persist throughout the day
· Overnight, dense fog will form starting mid-evening
· The weekend is more of the same
· Sunday into Monday, the upcoming front is likely to stall, giving the fog a boost
· The stalled front could generate rain showers which help keep fog from forming
· Still much uncertainty in the forecast for next week
· Another front is expected Thursday into Friday, giving clear weather for several days
Sabine Pilots:
· No vessel movements yesterday
· Presently 22 ship arrivals on the bar
· 15 of those not scheduled for inbound transits because their berths are occupied
· 17 ships for departure
· Priority ships will come inbound ASAP as weather permits followed by outbound
Another PCT conference call has been scheduled for 1000 hours tomorrow Saturday, February 8th, to provide updates on this situation.
