Please Note East Passage of Narragansett Bay is closed to traffic from 0600 to 1130 July 13th. 
 
Swimmers will be transiting from Navy Base to Potters Cove on Jamestown.
 
RI – EAST PASSAGE NARRAGANSETT BAY – 48TH ANNUAL SAVE THE BAY SWIM – Swim  Mariners are advised that a safety zone is in place for Save the Bay’s Annual Swim scheduled to be held in the East Passage of Narragansett Bay on Saturday, July 13, 2023, commencing at 6:00 a.m. and completing at approximately 11:30 a.m. Approximately 300-400 swimmers will be accompanied by approximately 150 kayaks and 15 power vessels. Participants will swim from the Newport Naval Station, Newport, RI, across East Passage north of and parallel to the Newport Pell Bridge and finish in Potters Cove, Jamestown RI. A safety zone will be in place from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. During this time the East Passage will be closed to all vessel traffic, both commercial and recreational.  Interested mariners may contact the Coast Guard on-scene patrol commander on VHF 16 or the person in charge by phone at (401) 323-9304.
