Please note the below and attached updated USCG MSIB received regarding high river conditions and the updated NOBRA pilots letter.
Below is an updated High Water MSIB from the Coast Guard. Please note that effective immediately, oceangoing vessels shall navigate between Mile 170 – 182 during daylight hours only due to the Baton Rouge gauge being above 40 feet. This restriction will remain in effect until the Baton Rouge Gauge drops below 40 feet, which is currently projected to happen on May 8th.
In addition, the NOBRA Pilots Board of Examiners have amended their navigational restrictions that go into place once the Carrollton Gauge reaches 16 feet. Per the attached letter, any vessel anchoring in the NOBRA Pilot jurisdiction with a draft of 38 feet or greater will require a pilot to remain on board while at the anchorage. This is an increase from 35 feet that was previously disseminated.
Also, the President of the NOBRA Pilots has made the following request highlighted in the below message:
Please contact our office if you have any questions.
Attached please find correspondence I received from the Board of Examiners for New Orleans – Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots for the Mississippi River regarding high water safety restrictions.
Additionally, as a result of high water conditions, I respectfully request you ask your stakeholders to be mindful of the limited amount of available tugs when placing pilot orders with NOBRA dispatch.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call.
