Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
Fog and showers today as a warm front pushes north of the waters
with gusty southwest winds of 30 knots, a few gusts may reach gale
force criteria, held off as this isn`t expected to be widespread. A
Small Craft Advisory has been issued for all waters. A cold front
swings through late tonight into the early morning hours of Tuesday
with heavy rain and embedded thunder. Winds shift from southwest to
northwest, will have northwest gusts Tuesday around 20 to 25 knots.
High pressure returns late Tuesday into Wednesday. Unsettled weather
returns late in the week..
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:

.TODAY...S winds 15 to 20 kt, increasing to 20 to 25 kt this
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: SE
5 ft at 6 seconds and SE 1 foot at 10 seconds. Areas of dense fog
this morning. Areas of fog this afternoon. A slight chance of
showers. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 5 ft at 6 seconds and E 1 foot at
10 seconds. Areas of fog. A chance of showers in the evening.
Showers after midnight. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.TUE...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. Wave Detail: NW 5 ft at 6 seconds and SE 3 ft at 9 seconds.
A chance of showers in the morning.
.TUE NIGHT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: N 4 ft at 6 seconds and SE 3 ft at
9 seconds.

5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Seas 4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: N 4 ft
at 6 seconds and SE 3 ft at 9 seconds.
.WED NIGHT...SE winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to 20 kt
after midnight. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: S
4 ft at 5 seconds and SE 3 ft at 9 seconds. A chance of showers
after midnight.
.THU...S winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to
6 ft. Showers likely.
.THU NIGHT...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft. A chance of showers.
.FRI...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. A chance of showers.
.FRI NIGHT...N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
2 to 3 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height..
