Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
A warm front will move N across the waters today. SW winds may
approach gale force this afternoon. A cold front follows tonight,
then stalls S of New England Fri. High pres builds over the
Maritimes late Fri night into Sat. The front south of New England,
then lifts N across the waters late Sat night into Sun, as a warm
front. This warm front briefly lifts N across the waters Sun,
followed by a low pres and an attending cold front moving through
Sun night and early Mon. Another cold front from the west will cross
the waters Tue afternoon and evening with low pres possibly
developing along the front in the Gulf of Maine.
 
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
 
.TODAY...S winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: S 6 ft at 7 seconds and SW 2 ft at 4 seconds.
A chance of showers this morning, then showers likely this
afternoon. Areas of fog this afternoon with vsby 1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...SW winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt, becoming
W 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt after midnight. Seas 5 to
7 ft, subsiding to 3 to 5 ft after midnight. Wave Detail: S 5 ft
at 7 seconds and SW 2 ft at 4 seconds, becoming SE 4 ft at
8 seconds and W 2 ft at 4 seconds. Areas of fog. Vsby 1 NM or
less.
.FRI...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, becoming NW
5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft
at 8 seconds and W 2 ft at 4 seconds.
.FRI NIGHT...NW winds around 10 kt, becoming NE after midnight.
Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at
8 seconds.
.SAT...E winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming SE in the afternoon. Gusts
up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: NE 2 ft at 4 seconds
and SE 2 ft at 7 seconds. A chance of showers in the morning,
then showers likely in the afternoon.
.SAT NIGHT...SE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft at 7 seconds and NE 2 ft at
5 seconds. Showers.
.SUN THROUGH MON...N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt.
Seas 3 to 5 ft. Showers likely.
.MON NIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
2 to 4 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
